Come along to see local artist Jonathan Bishop install at paper [cut and sculpted] display in SBS’s window.  Mince pies are on offer for those who are a bit peckish!

Week commencing 5 December

December 4, 2011

5 December – Meridian Primary School, SE10 9NY opening at 10am. “Fling wide the Gates”

The window has been inspired by three important and exciting events that are relevant to the children of Greenwich; the 2012 London Olympics, the re-opening of the Cutty Sark and the celebration of the newly named royal borough.

6 December – SBS Printing, SE10 8NW opening at 6pm. “Fling wide the Gates”

Local artist Jonathan Bishop will be installing a paper [cut and sculpted] display and SBS Printing will be supplying mince pies.

7 December – James Wolfe Primary School, SE10 9LA opening at 330pm. “Countdown to Christmas”

There will be different squares in the window made by different classes to represent the doors of a children’s advent calendar.  There will be carol singing at the opening.

8 December – Pickwick Papers, SE10 9JB (can be viewed from 6pm). “Step in the right direction!!”

The window represents the joy of opening the gates, with lots of woolly feet to represent all the people.

9 December– St Alfege Primary School, SE10 9RB opening at 4pm. “Gates of Glory”

The School Photography Club lead by Sarah Coldham have taken photographs of gates in Greenwich which they will turn into their Advent Window.

Come along for mince pies and Christmas Punch!

10 December – 213 Greenwich High Road, SE10 8NB opening at 5pm. “Here comes Santa Claus!”

If you’re going to “Fling wide the Gates” who better to do that for at Christmas than Santa Claus? The window, designed by an 8 year-old will be a mixed media effort.

11 December– The Green Parrot Gallery, 73 Lassell Street, SE10 9PJ opening at 3pm. “Let parrots and angels fly”

Throw wide the gates and let the creatures fly. May all caged-up minds and stifled wings soar high above the sky…come along to see how this is interpreted.  There’ll be mince pies and mulled wine.  www.greenparrotgallery.com

Opening at the Biscuit Ceramic Cafe in 3-4 Nelson Road, SE10 9JB at 10am

Gates thrown open by the power of love to let the gifts of creating and dedication in.  Many of the ceramics are used for expressions of love and good wishes.  The joy comes as much from your creativity as in the gift itself.

Look out for the micro giving site on the window where you’ll be able to text to donate to the church restoration appeal

Brindishe Lee School in Lewisham will be displaying some of their Year 4 work of a tutor christmas.

There’ll be free cakes on offer, who could resist

The Ben Oakley Gallery is taking part for the first time ever at 9 Turnpin Lane, SE10 9JA at 6pm.

Come along for mulled wine and mince pies and see how Ben interprets this year’s theme.  The Ben Oakley Gallery is right in the centre of town and displays a wonderful array of art both by visiting and local artists.  You will be guaranteed a very warm welcome.
