Advent Windows 2017: Jubilation!

2017 marks the 10th anniversary of Advent Windows in Greenwich. Thanks to everyone who has created and admired our windows over the years, which is now a beloved Christmas tradition.

To mark our 10th anniversary, this year’s theme is Jubilation!

Every year St Alfege Church, at the heart of Greenwich, London, runs an “Advent Windows” event whereby the town centre is brought alive by 24 unique offerings in the lead up to Christmas.

Shops, homes, schools and pubs use their imagination and artistry to produce the living Advent Calendar. A newly decorated window will be revealed, or “opened”, on each day of Advent (1st to 24th December) in different parts of Greenwich. A variety of media will be used, including paper art, models, light installations and paintings.

To see the map of this year’s locations, look below or click on the tab above. If you’re more inclined toward a PDF way of looking at things, click here: 2017 Advent Windows Map

Once all 24 Advent Windows have been opened, seeing all of them usually takes around 3 hours on foot. You can view a programme of the window locations, or read about the window openings after each event on our blog. A summary of the window openings for the current day can be found under “Today’s Window”.

The windows will stay up until Tuesday, 2 January 2018.

You can find out further information about us and our church by logging on to the St Alfege website, by emailing or by ringing 020 8853 0687.

We hope you enjoy this Greenwich Christmas tradition.

Happy Christmas!
