Advent Windows 2016: The Promised Time

advent-window-2-2016Advent Windows 2016 is now complete. Thanks to everyone who created an Advent Window and to everyone who admired one. Check back on 1 December 2017 for the next installment.

Every year St Alfege Church, at the heart of Greenwich, London, runs an “Advent Windows” event whereby the town centre is brought alive by 24 unique offerings in the lead up to Christmas. This is our 10th year.

Shops, homes, schools and pubs use their imagination and artistry to produce the living Advent Calendar. A newly decorated window will be revealed, or “opened”, on each day of Advent (1st to 24th December) in different parts of Greenwich. A variety of media will be used, including paper art, models, flowers and paintings.

Seeing all of the Advent Windows usually takes around 3 hours on foot. You can view a programme of the window locations, or read about the window openings after each event on our blog. A summary of the window openings for the current day can be found under “Today’s Window”.

The windows will stay up until Monday, 2 January 2017.

You can find out further information about us and our church by logging on to the St Alfege website, by emailing or by ringing 020 8853 0687.

We hope you enjoy this Greenwich Christmas tradition.

Happy Christmas!
